One of the most common beliefs I have encountered in 30 years of Life and Success Coaching is this: “I am loved if I perform” This belief is usually developed in childhood. When a child performs there is a reward, when a child does not perform, there is punishment. Society is run on this. The promise of love and the threat of trouble is used to push people to higher performance.
